Until We Have Faces - I by synesthesiac Until We Have Faces - I by synesthesiac
Taken in one of the many ‘concept rooms’ at the Jüdisches Museum in Berlin. This one was designed so that visitors could walk on the thick metal faces, which represent the countless Jewish lives taken during the Holocaust. The high ceiling and concrete walls amplified the sound of metal on metal, making the atmosphere of the room almost unbearably haunting when there were two or more people walking the length of it.

That's the kind of feeling I was going for... the room actually does seem like it could go on forever. The space at the end of the hall is all shadows (caused by an overhang), making it look like a never ending tunnel.

It must have been an amazingly moving place to visit. I like the way that you have filled the entire frame with the faces, gradually becoming out of focus, it works brilliantly.

Thank you. :)

Everything about this museum was fascinating... I felt like a kid finding a house full of trap doors and secret rooms.

I had the opportunity to go to this museum in February, but chose to go to the Filmmuseum in Potsdamer Platz instead. Must have been a harrowing experience.

It was indeed.

I had to skip over most of Potsdamer Platz... I didn't have near enough time in Berlin to see all that I wanted to see, unfortunately.

It's a pretty amazing place to visit, just for the architecture. Daniel Libeskind designed it... it's pretty awesome just to gawk at.
